A valuable source of information about early Bath County and the region comes from the interviews conducted by John Dabney Shane.  In the 1840s and 1850s, Shane interviewed 20 pioneers living in Bath County, including James Wade, Sarah Graham, Josiah Collins, and William Sudduth.
