A valuable source of information about early Montgomery County and the region comes from the interviews conducted by John Dabney Shane.  In the 1840s and 1850s, Shane interviewed 25 pioneers living in Montgomery County, including Richard French, John Crawford, and John Hanks.  Also included is the diary of the Reverend David Barrow.
